Talking Afternoon all

I've been an occasional lurker here for a couple of weeks and decided it was time to sign up.

I'm a Scot living in south Wales (lived in London for 18 years).

I have an Umarex AirMagnum .22 which I got as part of a severance package / guilt trip from my previous employers.

I love the gun to bits (I know CO2's are often looked down upon, but ya boo sucks - *I* love it )!

I managed to wangle some Nikko Stirling 3 - 9 * 40 sights and have since fitted a Harris 'pod. I have some Real Tree camo tape on the barrel and mod which looks OK, but the damn stuff refuses to stick to the rest of the rifle

Anyway, Just thought I'd say hello before driving everyone bonkers with my inane questions and attempts at humour.

Just up the road from Llantrisant.

I'm only a token Taff (married to 'Valley Girl' [she will skin me for this - if she ever reads it] and we have 2 sprogs). The job in London went tits up, but I managed to get my punds worth on the way out.

Cheers Lez & Ryan too.

Hey TG you have some cracking roads up that way. We've been up that way a couple of times on our motorbikes.
Awesome scenery, but hard to concentrate on that and the twisty stuff at the same time.

Yeah the bikers congregate every sunday in the bus station cafe in Abergavenny and then burn for hours around the Black Mountains and all the country lanes...

It was gonna be my new toy this year, I was gonna do my direct access bike training and buy a nice powerbike but since the Beemer I may have to put it back a few months and do it next spring

Do yourself a favour mate (not being snotty here!!!), do your direct access, but start out on a mid sized thing for the first year. I've been to too many funerals of late. Bikes are my life and my love, but they bite back hard sometimes. I've been riding for over 30 years and I still manage to scare myself silly on your mountains. I know guys who have 600 sports bikes who get nowhere near the peak that these bikes can kick out here. However all it takes is one in-experienced twist of the wrist and some paramedic is scraping you off the side of a mountain.

I'll get off the soap box now.

No no you're right fella and I would love to jump straight on a R1 for sure but it would surely bring about my demise and turn me into a lovely lamp post ribbon but I was thinking more along the lines of a 400cc tourer or something like A mate of mine bought a stunning 400cc Triumph (something) and he bought it for a song and only 2yrs old too

If you're interested I might have a ZXR400 going

Seriously, a CBR400RR (NC29), ZXR400 or any of the older 600 sports bikes will be enough to scare you into a new pair of underpants for a year or two.
On the twisty stuff my wife on her CBR400RR stuck to my tail like glue and my bike has 3 times the engine.

Mind you she used to pee all over lads on all sizes of sports bikes before I started getting silly about starting my own rugby club
