BASC Discount to our Members

I approached the BASC with regards to a discount for our forum members, and this is on "Hold" for a moment, due to the laws changing, this is the email I received from them today.

Thanks for your e-mail.

The law regarding the selling of insurance is about to change (Jan 2005).

Under the new law, anyone selling or profiting from selling an insurance policy needs to be registered with the Financial Services Authority.

At the moment, we are awaiting the outcome of our own registration, together with details on what we can and cannot allow others to do on our behalf - so until this is resolved it is not worth looking into any discount that we could offer you.

However this is not to say that there will not be an opportunity - please e-mail me in November, by which time I should know from the FSA what we can and cannot do.

IMHO it's well worth becoming a member with or without a discount.

Yup I have to reapply coz mine lapsed but I agree, with or without discount, well worth the money
