New airgun laws come into force

The controversial Violent Crime Reduction Act (VCRA) came into force on 1 October.
However, some shooting organisations have described the legislation as "vague" and fear that it could be indicative of the government's attitude and long-term gun strategy.

The clampdown means the age for purchasing an airgun has increased from 17 to 18; that airguns can only be sold via registered firearms dealers and on a face-to-face basis; and that the minimum age for buying knives is raised from 16 to 18.

I think its a ridiculous law. If you want a replica BB firing weapon 50% of it has to be painted a silly colour too.
I find it ridiculous because criminals operate under the law , weapons they gain access to are normally through illegal channels anyway , so punishing airgun enthusiasts just doesnt solve the problem.
Im sure many small airgun stores are suffering badly through loss of online sales. Not to mention the customer , who cant shop around online for the best deal anymore.
You can pay to have weapons delivered to your local dealer but the money youd be saving from buying elsewhere will be spent on the handling sur-charge which makes it pretty much pointless.
Another silly law which will change absolutely nothing.

plus picking up a weapon that has come from anther dealer dosn't put you in your dealers good books unless you know him/her already,my nearest dealer is 5 miles away and i don't like too shop there much cos they fckd my hw 77.so my next is nearly 50 so this law is ass wipes that have fckd us.and its prob there brats that are shootin anything and everything

i could say tthat the law reli is stupid but thats wot im expected to say, cos im 17 and as u can imagine i had to ge tmy air rifle via my dad and ahv to get my pellets via my dad so as u imagine its annoying for me that at one point i cuda got these by my self, but i guess in sum way it has probably made it better that the age has been risen, but yeah it is stupid but what yah gnna do, you cant fight the government lmao cant do nout against the government can yah :@

i think its a great idea
delivering rifles to dealers so that you can pick up and show your id.
same went with me when i bought one from essex

stops the chavs buying them and shooting swans
one of the reason why the law is so tight as it is
