Default Hunting Ban

Seems it's finally happened

LONDON (Reuters) - Fox hunting has been banned, despite a last-minute attempt by the government to delay its demise until after the next election. Prime Minister Tony Blair, worried that banning the pastime now would hurt his campaign for a third term in power in an election expected next year, tried to put off the day on which hunters with hounds would no longer be able to chase and kill the fox.

Default Re: Hunting Ban

The one decent thing this Government has done is to ban fox hunting with hounds.

That's my opinion. I'm entitled to it as you are to yours, whoever you are!

Thumbs down Re: Hunting Ban

Ahhhh! Rod,

but now the ban has opened a can of worms the anti's have now declared war on the shooting sports to get that banned + there’s a strong movement to ban angling and it goes on, none of are safe from the minority of dickheads whom make it their life’s crusade to ban everything that they disagree with.

We also allow the morons from the USA with similar beliefs to funding the ban everything movement in the UK because they can’t make it work in their own country.

This ban is the slippery slope to taking away our right to hunt, own guns and fish the waters like the generations before us.

The annoying thing is the Government have taken away our freedom of choice and are eroding civil liberty by dictating to us what we can and cannot do on our own land. I for one will be marching on with the hunt supporters with the civil disobedience stance, I signed the declaration and I’m sticking to it.

I ain’t taking any notice of the spotty arsed politicians the nearest they get to the countryside is the garden at the back of their expensive houses or a pub with a garden (probably paid for with expenses extorted from us, the taxpayer) It is not about fox hunting or hunting with dogs, it’s having the freedom of choice and the right to manage the countryside which the Labour are so adamantly trying to destroy.

If Labour had its way they would cover the countryside in concrete, close farms and ban farming and have us bowing to every stupid whim that they dream up.

This law is going to bite Blair right in the ******** and that’s why the cretin has kept his distance………..bit like lighting the fuse and retiring to a safe distance, what goes around comes around Tony so watch your ****.

Politics aside, it's the hunting with hounds that has always gripped my snot. A bullet in the brain is far more efficient.

I fully understand and appreciate the enjoyment that these people get (got?) from charging around the countryside following a pack of hounds who are chasing a fox, but ask someone such as Baz how many he can slot from a Landrover in an afternoon. If the whole question sits around 'pest control' then who's way is most effective, productive and instant?

And I do not believe that the ban is the first step down the slippery slope to further gun control. If anything, more guns will be required for culling.

GM

PS. I have never agreed with hunting with hounds as I believe it to be barbaric and inhumane.

Angry Re: Hunting Ban

Well GreenMachine your perfectly within your rights to not agree with hunting, but does that mean it should be banned? I think not!

There are plenty of antis out there that believe shooting 'fluffy' bunnies, squirrels, birds etc is barbaric and inhumane! So on your philsophy this should be banned as well????..........................Didnt think so!

I agree that shooting is a more effective method of pest control!

I just dont think it should be banned, hopefully the european courts will see sense if the english courts dont. Another thing that bothers me about this bill is HOW are they going to enforce it, the police forces around the country are stretched as it is????

And finally the government has spent 700hrs on this topic HOW and WHY have they been allowed this amount of time when there are MANY more pressing topics for example the state of our hospitals.

These antis seem to think a fox's life is more precious than a humans!
HOW F**KED UP IS THAT!

Please read what I have written!

I said that I believe that hunting with hounds is barbaric and inhumane. I have not said that I do not agree with hunting period. As for shooting anything, isn't that a slightly different issue to hunting with hounds?

Before any of you get on your soap boxes, read what I have written as it might just lend some weight to a non-existant argument and don't try to quote me on something I haven't even said!

The point I was trying to make was that just because YOU feel that hunting WITH hounds is barbaric and inhumane does that mean it should be banned?

Many antis may feel the same about shooting, does this give them the right to get shooting banned as well?
Once hunting is out the way they will have alot more time to go after shooting and they will!!

When have I said that? I have never said that as I believe hunting with hounds to be barbaric and inhumane, it should therefore be banned. Once again you should read what is written - I'm glad it's banned because I believe it to be barbaric and inhumane - not - It should be banned because I believe it to be barbaric and inhumene. Have we finally understood this, or should I type it in Brail????

Many antis may feel the same about shooting, does this give them the right to get shooting banned as well?
I don't give a ****e about the 'anties' or what they think about shooting. Is that bit clear?

Once hunting is out the way they will have alot more time to go after shooting and they will!! OK, fine. But what has that got to do with anything about hunting with hounds?

Unhappy Re: Hunting Ban

Rod,

with respect, not all of us agree with hunting with pack dog's as on the same vein I don't agree with duck shoots, I beat for a shoot and the part that really pisses me off is when a shot gunner can't shoot straight and then complains to the gamekeeper that Elliot went over and picked up a wounded duck that I had to dispatch. All this because he wanted his sodding dog to pick it later,(This is the bloke who is a townie and knows f**k all about the countryside - I nearly decked the sod last year) needless to say I walked off, that to me is letting an animal suffer. I’m afraid there is cruelty in every sport just that fox hunting stands out.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly don't entirely agree with fox hunting with hounds, but one thing leads to another as history confirms, the anti's would like it if everyone became veggies if they had their way.

If we don't stand our ground against the hypocrisy of this 'ban everything' crazed society we haven't a chance in hell of preserving our own sport because they will want all guns banned as well. If the driven shoots get hammered and banned where is the just cause in owning a shotgun or full-bore rifle? (except for shooting clays or targets.) How many guns will that take out of circulation from legitimate shooter’s???? How then will we shoot foxes or any other vermin come to that???? Bit devious this Government, let the anti's do the work then take the credit....bit like stealth taxing

It may not be a slippery slope but rest assured these bloody anti’s after this triumph will targeting all field sports now whatever it is.

I agree with Nev if this is banned now we will be next.

I got 2 terriers which I plan on taking ratting , is this also cruel ???

I don't think this will stick, just seen on the news that the hunts are going to carry on ban or no ban it won't stop them.
They can't arrest all these people along with dogs and horses, we anit heard the last of this yet.
Bloody Government think they know it all.
