Default City gun amnesty after boy's death

Police have launched a gun amnesty in Manchester in the wake of the murder of 15-year-old Jessie James and an increase in shootings across the city.

They want illegal guns, ammunition and other weapons to be handed in, and will not take action against the owner unless the guns are linked to a crime.
Teenager Jessie was gunned down in a park in the notorious Moss Side area of the city earlier this month.
Last week, only a few streets away, a 16-year-old girl was injured by gunfire.
She was shot in the shoulder late on Thursday night in Whalley Range and is recovering in hospital.
Only days earlier, a 20-year-old man was shot in the knee in Old Trafford.
The amnesty will last a month and police hope it will combat the rise in gun crime in the city over the past few months.
Assistant Chief Constable David Jones said: "Every gun handed in is one less that can be used in crime and one less that could potentially take a life.
"We are appealing to those who may have a gun and to family and friends who may know someone who is in possession of an illegal weapon to come forward and surrender them. The hand-in is an opportunity to get guns off our streets and, particularly in light of recent events, it could also prevent the loss of another innocent young life." He said guns could be handed in with complete anonymity but their owners would not be given immunity from prosecution.

Yes - ready to mug anyone who looks as if they may be going in to surrender a gun!

What are you're thoughts on these hoodies? Apparently its becoming more like Los Angeles here, everyday. With all these gun slinging gangs shooting each other. It really winds me up thinking about them.
