whats the best silencer, & what do you use.
As it says gents, what do you think is the best, or can you prove its the best.
I use a
Parker Hale - not on a gun - not Bad
BSA Volumteric Was on S10 - crap
Stealths on a Stealth - ok but bloody big.
Logun on a Stealth - ok
Sako - on S200 - good silencer
BSA SAS - now on S10 - good.

Used a BSA Volumtric on Ultra (Ships with rifle) - Rubbish
Now use a HW on my Ultra - Brilliant.

the best silencer I have ever tried was a PES silencer that was rated for .243. My mate brought it round my house when he had his .222 remington screwcut, i give it a quick whirl on my BSA hornet and other than the click from the trigger mechanism the hornet made no other sound at all. I would definatly have one if you could get a unproofed version.
Other than that the hornets fitted with a BSA SAS silencer as standard and that does its job i suppose, and i have a ultra shrouded S16 and that makes hardly any noise.

HW silencer for pcp unf 1/2. There are better, but not for £35.

i have 3 hw weihrauch silencers on different rifles,and for the money they cant be beaten and are wispa quiet.

weihrauch is the best 1/2 unf silencer,and ive had a few silencers,ie logun,rob lane,bsa,custom made ones,get a weihrauch

HW is OK for me but to be honest I think they only make it quieter in the immediate area. Down line a bit your quarry are all going to be hearing/thinking the same thing as it's "Oh feck! Too late!" . Silencers are a huge money spinning con IMHO.
I was engaged in some tree rat bashing last year. Close range stuff, 10m max, now in this situation I never leave the safety on, but I remember the learning curve as if it was yesterday, on the occasion I had left the damn thing on, the little git heard it..........no shot  . The lesson I took from this was that they get used to what you use, I'd spent ages letting them think I had come just to look and my rifle was well, just a piece of wood , then shot the crap out of them  ...........Al
