For me a Springer is a winner every time, PCP to me is lazy, if you cant kill with the fist shot you got a few more, its recoilless therefore your shooting skills are less than natural and you have to recharge it! If you want the skills of a true marksman the hone them on a springer. Point and shoot...zzzzz

Another springer vs pcp argument that i cant get my head around
Now i will say this, plinking with a pcp for me is boring,it's much more fun with a springer...but let me ask you this,do you try to use the most accurate pellets available for your rifle? The answers probably yes.
Would you tune your rifle to make it shoot sweeter with less recoil, probably yes again. So you want to have the rifle as accurate as possible with it being as user freindly as possible?Yes?Then get a pcp
Some will go as far as buying a semi recoiless springer like a Whiscombe or tx200sr but still not want a pcp which has miniscule recoil
Recoil from a springer & the extra work involved to judge just how the recoil will affect the POI with different holds/stances,rests is what a pcp has done away with,so why go backwards?
I know rifles that are self contained are less hassle than a pcp,& they can be more fun,but if a pcp puts more in your game bag then thats what i'll use.

I bet your brain is hurting after that mate...
Probably killed a few cells in the process too.

I for one, having only tried PCP's in my little life, would like to give a TX200 or more specially a 97k.
There seems to be a more fun factor, but until i try a springer im not sure.... yet.

springer all the way, explored the pcp option with pump and divers bottle and an excellent s410 rifle..........far too much hassle and made me a lazy shooter, hence back to a springer, this time for good

Can't argue with much that has been said in this thread. Springers are great to learn gun control on, they are reliable and free to use and I love my TX200 and will never part with it. But my BSA S10 is a work of art and efficient with it. Cheap to run and reliable. Wouldnt part with that either. 177 the calibre for me though - nice flat trajectory and super accurate.

Thumbs down Re: 1 gun only...springer or PCP?

I have only recently started useing a PCP and i can really tell a difference, I wouldnt want to go back unless it was just a little bit of fun, I still use a springer for rats (i have no idea why)

But yeah the PCP for accuracy and power the confidence it gives me to take a few extra yards cannot be underestimated.
