Default Bloody Norton Antivirus

My 'puter has been playing up lately so I swept it for viruses, trojans and all the other nasties with Norton AV. The result was a squeeky clean system.
As the problems continued, my confidence in Norton AV was wearing a bit thin - for example, the Auto Protect kept switching on and off at random. I used SpyBot but it found nothing untoward.

Still sceptical, I downloaded MacAfee AV and had a major result by locating 6 nasties

Ok, Spybot is a freebie. Fine, won't knock it!

But Norton costs and can't do the job!!!!

And yes, I updated before I ran it

There must be a moral here somewhere

GM a few years ago I got chatting to the guy in our local Computer shop and was asking him about the best AV to use.

He told me never to use Norton as norton was the most common and hackers etc would use Norton to practise on as most people used it.

I also had AVG 7 a while back but then found EZ anti virus which would pick things up before AVG would.
I got rid of AVG 7 and kept EZ AV which has been great for a free program.
I also use Zone alarm Pro as a fire wall and use Spybot and Adware SE which are all free, and nothing has got through only the odd one spybot or adware has picked up but it has never hurt my system.

One of the problems was holistic (sp) in a dial-up area which was slowing things down and another that was trying to hijack the modem. That one was causing the system to drop out of AOL every so often or cause aggro when trying to log on.
Not really dangerous but bloody annoying nonetheless

Why pay for norton when you can get the trial version of pro?

Think the latest trial version lasts for 10 years

LOL i know what ya mean before i turned into 100% webdevelopment i worked with hardware and software and its all a big joke!

to put it simply these companys cannot keep up norton (one of the most reputable companys) are for the most part 3 months behind the bad guys..

different software will detect diffent bugs/viruses so always try and have atleast 2 on ya PC more if possible...

times are changing though and the days when somone would send you a file to open E.G a pic of there nude wife (always got me that one ) are all but dead the web its self is now a mine field websites are getting more and more complex and it would scare the crap out of you if i told you how easy it is to open up the lid on your PC if you are just browsing my website! and thats just one way but its getting bigger!...

just be as well protected as you possibly can and take it from me m8 paying 500 smacks doesnt mean zip!

Have you a web site for EZ anti virus.
I have done a search and found loads, but i dont trust a lot of sites that say they have free antivirus software as lots of other junk usually come with it.
