I use a Nite Hunter lamp set up, Lamp, Battery & switch are all fitted to the gun and as a total package comes in at 13 oz so super light weight.
It's one of them things once you try it you think how the hell did I do without that before.

Take a look http://www.nite-hunter.com/

used a logun lamp with out any problems on mine, just be carful where the cables are hanging. Personally i would go for a deben tracer lamp as the effectiveness + the dimmer switch make it a far more versatile and usefull lamp, you can get one with a stock mounted battery if you are concerned about the weight.

I once heard a story about a guy out lamping with a standard type lamp which had the battery on a belt.

While out shooting the battery was in its belt holder around the guys waist, with the battery placed around the back of him.
As he was walking down a slight slope he slipped and landed on his back.
As the battery was behind him this is what he landed on which caused a lot of pain and put him out of action for a while.
If you use this type of battery please make sure you postion it right so it don't damage you if you do fall.

some good advice there, i have had a battery from a high power lamp for foxing clout me round the head as my mate (in his defense it was cold and wet and the cable slipped) passed it over a fence in the dark, lets just say the foxes wernt the only ones bleading.

I have just bought a Deben Tracer Mini s/h off another forum, find it great as weighs nothing on gun (Hw 97k) and although the battery is on belt I find this fairly comfortable as my rifle already weighs enough without a battery pack on the stock, use red filter and really does seem to make a difference on how long till Mr wabbit decides to go home. I don't have the dimmer as it isn't the pro version, but I have found the battery lasts fine on full beam.

Default Re: Lamping set up?

you can get good results with a maglight attached to the scope
its cheap as chips and i have a couple of sets of recharable batteries (AA)
it's good enough out to about 40 yrds which is far enough to shoot bunnies
and lite weight

Eyup Taz

I've read somewhere else that maglight were good, is yours one of the double AA battery ones with adjustable beam and how did you mount it to your scope?

Cheers

Neil
