Default Ammo for corvids

I know there is an old adage of .177 for feathers and .22 for fur BUT I only own a .22 and a local farmer wants me to **** crows on his land. I normally use Bisley Pest Control pellets in my rifle, will these work on crows or can you suggest something that would be better? Cheers.

My advise would be to use Bisley Super Fields 5.5mm. I have had some good shoots on Rooks using these pellets

Or you could try Bisley Long Range Gold pellets - they have a filled tip so they hit pretty hard but still penetrate as well as most round-head pellets.
But bisley pest controls will do the job out to 25m or so - i used to exclusively use those pellets in my webley hawk which is pretty low powered but still made 15m kills on crows and jackdaws.
Really it depends on where you are aiming i suppose - body shots need penetration at longer ranges but any pellet will get a clean headshot.
I have used H&N Hollow Points on Crows, Jackdaws and recently Magpies and they seem to do the job very well whether it is a head or body shot - they have less of a "hollow point" than the bisley's and so fly better but still hit hard and i have had complete pass-throughs on body shots at about 20m.
Hope this helps.

My advice would be to find the pellet that shoots best in you gun, practise with that chosen pellet and go get them crows.

I don't think the crows will mind if it's a Accupell , daystate, airarms or bisley pellets.
As long as they shoot straight and your rifle skills are up for it then almost any pellet will do the job.

If you have never shot crows before I would recommend you ask advice as they are crafty buggers and not that easy to shoot.

Good luck.
