I understand this to be a desireable!
In case of unwanted attention whilst out doing ya bit, you can demonstrate your permission. Other function is to protect your pitch.
Some permissions may want to limit or control your activities, which can be formalised. For night shooting you need written permission if you are not the land owner.
I personnally do not have written permission, I shoot on land owned by good long term friends. I tend to leave the car in a place where they will see it so as they know you are about. Sometimes I call them in advance to OK it, as they may have beast out etc.
If I was to gain permissions outside of friendships, I would like to have a written agreement in place to protect yourself.

this is another advantage of the basa insurance you get an id card that you stick your mug shot on and get it signed by the land owners

Pest removal disclaimer

This document is to certify that ############ ,of #################, has been given permission by the owner of _____________________________________ _____________________________________ to hunt on their property for pest species.

The Landowner agrees to let the Shooter and his/her shooting partners ‘control by shooting’ those pests covered under Schedule II of the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981, Section 1 of the Pest Control Act 1954, Ground Game Act 1880 etc. until such a time as it is deemed appropriate to withdraw that permission.

The Landowner allows the Shooter access to his/her land at suitable times as not to cause hindrance to the Landowner or livestock.
The boundaries for this activity will be confined to the area(s) defined by the Landowner and indicated by a red line drawn on the map.

In return for the granting of this permission, the Shooter and associates will respect the land and associated buildings the livestock and the crops thereon.

The Shooter and his/her associates will behave in a safe and responsible manner at all times and respect the wishes of the Landowner.


All care will be taken to ensure safe shooting practices whether in open countryside or around buildings and structures.

All pest species eradicated will be removed and disposed of off the property by the hunter and, regular reports on pest removal success forwarded to the owners.

No payment is asked for in return for these services however, a signature on the following disclaimer would be appreciated to cover both parties in the event of damage to property, injury, or death.

I, ##############, having been given permission to hunt _______________________ _______________________, do hereby renounce and relinquish any claim to my personnel injury; or my death, while on the property for the purpose of pest removal.

You have been given some good advice but just to add a few points.

The permission should detail what types of methods of control you are authorised to use, snares, dogs, lamps, .22 air rifle, .22-250 cf rifle etc.
The types of quarry you may shooting, crows, rabbits, ducks, fox etc.
One thing that 90% of people forget to add is that you may also remove the "catch". The police can arrest you for suspected theft should they catch you in possession of rabbits or a deer for example. Waking the landowner at 2am after a nights lamping because the plod are board will not go down well at all.

A shooting permission slip can be as simple as this:

I ...................... (Holder of shooting rights) authorise and grant my permission for ......................... (You) to use ............................. (Snares/ shotguns etc), to control ......................(type of quarry) over the land known as ................................. (farm address).
He is also responsible for removing and disposing of the catch.

Signed .................................. (holder of shooting rights).
