Back in the 70's I had some cheap little bb guns dad got me.

Then later when I was in my late teens he got me a Beeman R-8

Well 20 years later I am shooting with my son now and am hooked ,just keep buying more and more all the time.

Just ordered 2 more Steyr lg110 and another AirWolf with MVT, just missed a Rapid mkii .25 @ 50 fpe that was up for sale

Went to the local fair aged 6 and won a green stuffed mouse on the rifle range - well chuffed After that my dad broke out his old cadet major and I had supervised plinking sessions. Never looked back (and 26 years later he will even let me out on my own sometimes)

Have had a few guns since and still take the cadet out from time to time - a classic.

I was taught to shoot years ago by my grandad on the familiy farm in Yorkshire.

He started me off as a lad of about 9 (about 30 years ago now), on his .22 BSA Meteor, then onto a single barrel 410 shotgun which he later gave me. Then I progressed onto his .22 semi-automatic rifle - a Remington I think - it was butt loading and held about 12 rounds or so in the butt, fitted with a silencer.

From there (when he thought I was ready) I moved upto his 12 gauge and then ultimatley his Lee Enfield 303.....god knows how he came to have that .....we never did find out.

Sadly, when he passed away the farm had to go and so did the guns, except for the BSA which I still have but haven 't had the heart to use in years. Instead I have a Webley Exocet .22 (got it just before they went bust) with 4-9x50 scope and really love it. I tried a mates AA S200 before I got the Webley but just couldn't get on with a PCP.....too much kit and faffing about for me...call me old fashioned

I wish I'd had a camera when I went with my dad to to the local village bobby to hand in the 303 when we cleared out the farm house, his jaw almost hit the floor.......especially when it came with about 6 or 7 steel ammunition boxes of pristeen, very well looked after 303 rounds.

There must have about 300 to 500 rounds in each box....or is that my memory palying tricks on me.

Either way....there was an awful lot of rounds with the gun when we handed it over and that doesn't even account for the huge number of rounds I used when learning to soot it.......nor my dad a few years before me for that matter.

I'd always wanted an air rifle, ever since I was about 12, but never had the space to use it. Now I've got a big garden I can plink to my heart's content! A year ago I bought a second hand smk b2 and then progressed to my HW95 and regular trips to NWSS. The b2 is awful, but it got me into this whole thing, so it can't be all bad.

My best friend at the time (sadly died) had numerous air rifles. I wasn't allowed an air rifle or to go shooting but I did go and that was it, I was hooked. I even bought a gun and kept it at my mates' house without my parent's knowledge. Not good form I know but I loved shooting. I nagged my parents and they eventually gave in, I was allowed to bring my gun (Relum Tornado) home. That was it, after that, I wanted every airgun on Earth and ended up with quite a collection.

Life got in the way through my 20s but I bought a 97k a few years ago before I moved to Scotland and I now have 3 shoots here so I'm now back full time.
