what is the actual definitions to these 2 different types???

The actual difference is where the rear of the bullet is struck when its fired. A rimfire is struck around the outside edge or rim of the bullet casing and a centrefire is struck on a primer located in the centre of the casing

&rim fire you cant reload were centre fire you can

rim fire came before centre fire, it's cheaper, but less powerful due to the thin brass used in the manufacture. The .17HMR is the most powerful commercial rimfire available. A lovely round to use. £80 for 500 the last batch I bought.

It was Hornaday from York guns. It was about 18months ago. I've read article where they say all the HMR rounds come out of the same manufacturing site though. I tried various makes, and could see no difference. The .22LR is fussy though.

never looked what price they are now. 16p a pop, about same as Sg cartridges.
