Default rifle or pistol? theoretical question

picture the scene. im bored so i hack the back end off my beloved rifle then smooth the pistol grip into a true pistol grip.
is my new work of art a rifle or is it now a pistol and needs detuning to 6ft/lbs?
once a rifle always a rifle?

Yes Tony, you answered your own Q, once a rifle always a rifle, leave it at 12ftlbs, much more fun.
