Most nv scopes have the ability to zero during the day by keeping the daylight cover on, but this is not really for daylight shooting for any length of time. Newer digital nv systems are useable day & night but need more illumination to work at night than standard intensifier tubed versions.
A lot of it depends on what you want to shoot, what you shoot it with & at what range. The airgun bbs has a dedicated nv section that by reading all the posts will give you a good idea as to what is available.

There is no such thing as a cheap NV scope. Anything less than three or four hundred pounds is going to be substandard and more or less useless. The problem is that the very cheap scopes don't have adjustable aiming reticules and are more or less like looking through a telescope with a fixed wire cross-hair. On the other hand the tubes are so useless that your not going to see a rabbit size target much over 20 yds. Look for the 'red star' branding as these have some great tubes (gen 1). IMHO NV scopes are crap in the day time so a good comprimise is to clamp a NV monocular to the back of a normal rifle scope. All night vision equipment can be improved with the addition of an IR lamp (infra-red lamp and not a red filter!); making Gen1 look almost like gen1+, gen1+ almost like gen2 and so on.

All said and done be prepared to spend around £400 on a half tidy NV scope.
