Well, thanks all for the help and recommendations.

I think my mind is made up, I've narrowed it down to 2 rifles, the Ultra and the Scorpion as I think that they offer the best value for money as well as being really good guns by all accounts.

So, my next question is, how much are these guns going for new? I have seen them range widely in price, the Ultra I've seen for £250 on the internet but obviously, it's not practical to buy one online and I was quoted £325 yesterday on the Ultra single shot at my local gun shop.

Thanks again guys.

As said, my mind is made up, almost.

My local gun shop has a S/H Hornet for sale at £350, with a 3-9x50 scope on board, I haven't been to see it yet, I was meant to today but life got in the way so I may pop along t'moz and have a look.

Thanks mate.

I've looked the Hornet up on the internet and it seems a lovely rifle. I'm leaning towards the Ultra though due to it's compact size.

Are the pumps hard work, not that I mind hard work, just I don't want to be cream crackered when trying to shoot quarry?

Evening all.

I may get shot for saying this but I've had a rethink.

I went to the gunshop today to handle a few guns and after all my talk of a pre charged rifle, I was struck by the Tactical XL, it just seems to fit me.

So, I have been loaned a brand new XL for the weekend by my local gunshop, a guy I hadn't met until today, how trusting is that?

Just wondering, what are the thoughts on the XL, being a springer?

Thanks again, Dale.

good enough to shoot Rabbits etc- I have had in the past the Lightning XL in .177 cracking little gun

you didnt say what calibre??.22 has a loopy trajectory where as .177 is a lot flatter and more forgiving over 25 metres
