Default how does it work

my air rifle is set at 12ft lbs and id like to know how they set the limit for pcp air rifles becos i understand how a spring rifle can be set as springs can be set at certain springy levels lol so the spring can only create 12ft lbs of pressure, but with pcp or compressed air how is it that they set the limit at 12ft lbs ?? can any one tell me lol? cheers

A heavier hammer, spring on the hammer etc, etc,an amount of air is let through by a valve, you just need more air.

that's right. But the strange thing is you get more shots out of a .22 than a .177.
Why is that then?

But if it needs more air how do you get more shots?
A bigger bore will need more air for the same length!

Ryan,
there`s a book called "The Airgun From Trigger to Target" by the Cardews, father and son i think. It shows how PCP and spring guns work and the principles involved. My girlfriend bought me it for xmas and though i don`t read many books , because i had an interest, this book was very informative and i`ve read it a few times now. Basically, your pcp is fantastic engineering but your spring gun has even more weird, complex things happening inside like combustion! I think it costs about £17 ish but for the airgunner interested in how it all works a good investment.
