Default Girl's rifle

OK, to any girls about to take offence and shoot me down (geddit???), hang fire (and again) a moment.

My wife is somewhat interested in taking up the sport a bit more seriously than she does at the moment.
She currently borrows my 850 AirMagnum .22 and has a wee spell at the targets.
It turns out that she is pretty good (in my opinion). She can get a fairly good (sometimes better than mine) grouping (say a dozen in a 1" dia.) at 30m - consistantly.

However (here comes the expensive bit), she finds my toy a bit heavy.
OK, it has sights on (I remove the bipod when she doesn't want to use it), but they don't count for much.

She is more interested in a .22 than a .177 as bunnies will also be on the agenda when that grouping is tighter.

So, to cut a long story short: What should we be looking at?
.22 cal.
physically light.
Recoil should be light (I understand this will greatly affect price, but less is more in this case [she's not a big lass]).
Close to or on FAC limit (this is optional really as we have ~35 acres to play on). Personally I'm looking for an excuse to get a licence .
We are on a budget of around £200 ~ 250 (she thinks about £100 - but Christmas and her birthday are coming up and I have only seen toys for that price).

Suggestions please.

If I'm going to spend £600 it'll be on a motorbike!

Hmm, now there's a thought.

For that sort of money you could pick up a decent 2nd hand S200 but then you'd need filling equipment and scope and mounts as an after expense.

Please don't start the .177 vs .22 debate again but a .177 will knock them bunnies over just as well with the added bonus of the forgiving trajectory BUT a .22 will whack em real hard

I got you on the .177 v .22!
Respect to the quarry etc. I always go for the head and know that if I hit a rabbit at 30m in the brain pan with either a .177 or a .22 - it's dead!

However: my take on this comes from many centuries ago when I was a lad and in the forces.
If you hit someone with a large fast moving object the impact/shock goes a long way to helping to ensure what you knock down, stays down.
I also had it from the horses mouth, that "I'd rather make sure I hit someone once with a 9mm, than have to pump 3 * 7mm into him".

I'm also slightly amused when folks complain about the amount of recoil they suffer. Try it from a high velocity 7.62mm SLR (one of the old ones, not the new short ones {that jam all the time}) - or better still a GPMG at 2,000 rounds per minute. You get it wrong once and you ache for days!

Barrel / over all length wasn't suited to urban stuff, plus the MOD decided that squadies didn't need the ability to shoot bad guys through brick walls / grave stones.
Those rounds would go for 5 miles! They would still kill a man after 3 miles. They would go through 3ft of oak and still kill you on the other side.
I say a picture of what happens when one goes through a human: small hole at the front - huge crater at the back. Not pretty. Thankfully the only things I ever hit were made of cardboard.
