Re: Girl's rifle
Id definately go with a second hand air arms s200.They are perfect for the female shooter , very lightweight , very maneuverable and perfect for target shooting.
See if you can save for a bit longer and get one , the drawbacks are a stirrup pump will cost you another £100 quid unless you get the bottle charged at a local gunshop but with a relatively small tank youll be there all the time.
The only other thing I can recommend is a BSA XL Tactical , its a light weight springer with a synthetic tactical stock.Looks pretty , very reliable and modestly priced at around £250-£300 depending on where you get it.
Visit the shop with your Mrs beforehand and get to shoulder it to see how it feels.
XL Tacticals really are a great rifle for the money.

Thats a pretty immature comment , I personally served 4 years in the Royal Anglian Regt and know that taking a human life isnt to be taken lightly atall.
To relish in another living beings death is verging on the psychotic.

Re: Girl's rifle
its not ment in an immature way at all and its also not ment in a racist bias or critical way, im just quite willing to do whats in the job description and yeh its taking a life but if it means protecting the lives of civilians or the squad im put in then i will happily take sumones life, but saying that its not like im gnna go out tomorow and shoot sumone, if im in the marines and its my job then i will take it as it comes and wont delay on doing wot i have to do, but at the end of the day, the enemy put its self in this position so its not being taken lightly i have plenty of reasons why i can happily do this while being in a british force with no concious of it. and its not like i sed anything to say im blood thirsty all i sed was id be unhappy if all i shot was cardboard. but ur entitled to ur view as am i

Re: Girl's rifle
My wife is slightly built and tried a number of different rifles before she went for an S200.
She liked the light weight, and the bolt cocks on the pull of the stroke, as opposed to the push, which she found really easy.
She could get reliably tight groupings at 25yds from a standing shot, and from a prone position she could do the same out to 35yds.
I fitted the ten shot mag, and it was well worth the extra.
The only real problem’s she had were;
One time she was changing the mag over and must have caught the trigger, the bolt shot forward and hit her on the side of thumb, causing severe bruising.
There was no safety on the rifle, which was an issue at the time.
Pellets got jammed in the breach, on a number of occasions, with no explanation as to how or why.
The low shot count was never a problem as we just took the pump and filled it up again after three mags, and it took no time at all to fill it. I particularly liked the quick fill adaptor, as you knew it was locked on correctly.
I took it out hunting and found it very easy to carry around for hours, but it was a little jumpy due to the light weight, so once it got beyond 35yds the spread was too much to guarantee the clean kill.
She changed it after the thumb incident and now has a HW100S, which she gets on really well with, and the weight is not a problem as she uses the Harris on the range, or she uses my Axsor in the field, which she can now cock due to a lot of practice, and I get to use the HW100.
Hope this helps

Ryan i'm not having a pop at you here but before you stand tall claiming that you're willing to shoot anyone that poses a threat to you or your squad, while highly commendable that you would put yourself on the line for the people that would do the same for you, think about what you're saying Every man or woman can say yes i will pull the trigger but you would have to live with taking another's life for the rest of yours.
I have personal friends that stood in the same position as you just under 4yrs ago and couldn't wait to fight for queen and country and woe betide anyone that stood in their way, kill em all man, woman or child didn't matter. Northern Ireland, Iraq, Beirut, Afghanistan none of them scared them they would take them all, they joined the Paras, done the training and bragged that thats all they were trained to do was eat, sleep, shít and kill. First tour they done was either Afghanistan or Iraq not quite sure which but now they have been discharged from the Paras with mental health issues and the one is receiving constant psychiatric counselling with a view to being put into some sort of asylum for his OWN safety
All i'm saying is think about the consequences, being so eager to kill someone cos they're shooting at you means they're shooting at you !!! Why would you want to be so eager to put yourself in that position ???

Re: Girl's rifle
yeh i get your point there, but yeh its not for everyone is it, and im not eager to go out and kill anyone im eager for the travel, challange and fitness, and the excitement, and if the price to pay is to kill sumone or be shot at and quite possibly killed well im happy to pay that price to do sumthing i feel very strong about, because i do feel very strong about this career choice

Your willing to kill for fitness , excitement and challenge ? Because believe me , it aint about queen and country anymore lad.
If you make it past selection and basic and get out into country youll soon change your tune , believe me.
Still ,the army is a great place to instill some maturity and humility in a person.
Itd probably do you good.

Dont you dare slag of the army or any of the forces for that matter. They all rely upon and support one another and are all essential cogs in the machine.
The army require clued up , thinking soldiers these days , as do the marines and judging by the majority of you poorly spelled posts , awful grammar and ridiculous questions ("how do I stop my gun gettin dirty" , for one example) you dont stand a chance mate , you need common sense to become a soldier and you evidently have none.Grow some balls , get a bit of life experience and then you might , just might ,have room to comment on the brave men and women that serve this country and give you the freedom of speech to post garbage on forums.
I apologise to other members for this rant but ive just about had my fill of this kid.
