Daystate X2 Sport .20

Hi everyone,

Just wondered what everyone thinks of the above rifle. I decided only a few days ago to get myself a .22 PCP, and when I was settled on Daystate's X2 Sport I went to my local shop to see if they had any in (with no intention to buy, of course). They have it alright, but it's a .20 -- an air rifle caliber that until yesterday I had never heard of. I'm pretty keen just to go for it, but I have until tomorrow before I make my decision final: get the .20, or wait three months for a .22 to be ordered.

So will anyone disuade me? Or does anyone envy me?

I want a rifle that has a good balance of range and power, so does that mean a .20 is a good choice?

I've never owned a PCP before; my last rifle was an Air Arms Pro Sport .177, which I liked very much. I wish I hadn't sold it, but hey, we all make mistakes.

Firstly, Hi & Welcome to AGU

Um.. I'm not really the best person to give advice as I'm currently in a bit of a quandary myself. Potted history. I shot the loopy .22 for the best part of 30 yrs. Changed to girly .177 and loved the flat trajectory and speed of the shot. Then some bloke called Les on here suggested .20. So I've given that a go.

Basically it's the perfect hunting calibre As far as I'm concerned, fast flat and hits like a flying brick.

I like it So much so that I'm going to be selling everything else.

Might I suggest you get along to a local airgun club and seek some opinions and have a go with the various calibres. Most clubs have a wide and varied assortment of shooters and guns, and most will be more than willing to impart their experiences and let you have a go.

As far as Daystates go. I personally can't fault mine for reliability and ease of use. If anything I could do with a slightly longer stock. But that's the same with most of my guns. I ain't a small fella.

I have used .20 for Hunting for a couple of years and to be honest I wouldnt use any other calibre

apart from .22 FAC Rapid

That's exactly what I was told in the shop. I'm pretty set on getting the .20, as long as there are no "cautions" affiliated with this caliber. The only thing I have so far is that there isn't the same variety of .20 pellets, but that's not a huge deal.

I have several different brands of .20 - most good stockists carry them my fave being JSB's and H&N ftt's

Cool. I've read many reviews on .20 pellets, and (correct me if I'm wrong) the general consensus seems to be that Daystate's own pellets are particularly good. Cash-permitting, I'll be trying out quite a few brands of pellets when the rifle is up and running.

All I need to think about now is a scope. And mounts. And a bag. And a pump. And a silencer. And gun oil/cleaning kit. And money to buy it all...

I don't think Daystate have .20 in there own brand. (selects)
They sell .20 in JSB's as they are one of the importers.
