Re: Ban Hunting
I believe they should ban hunting with dogs its totally unnecessary and cruel, If you’ve ever witnessed such an event it’s not a pretty sight.

Re: Ban Hunting
I sent this
Quote:
In my opinion the countryside should be left to those best qualified to manage it, not the minority of people who live in the urban sprawls and the do-gooders in Parliament (who appear to know nothing of countryside management). The only people this pleases is the anti hunt organisations that are minuscule in comparison to the population in the rural areas.
This government will be making a grave mistake in implementing this ban as it will open the floodgates for other forms of country sports being targeted by the so called anti brigade such as rough shooting, managed shoots, Angling and pest control.
I would like to see how this Government would try and implement this ban, most dogs, whether pets or hunters, have a natural instinct to hunt when in the countryside, does this mean we will have a nation of dog owners with fat, obese animals because they won’t be allowed to exercise them properly in open areas?
I think this will be a vote loser for Blair and his Cronies who should be directing their energies into sorting out issues closer to home such as the NHS, poverty and not using Hunting as smoke screen every time they want to distract the public.
It’s about time the MP’s started earning their wages and stop dealing with trivia, get on with the job of sorting the welfare of the Human beings of the UK and not the welfare of vermin.

Next will be game shooting then angling (both already being targeted by the anti's)and the banning of all guns Having "good reason" won't stand up

Re: Ban Hunting
Yep I agree once they have banned fox hunting with dogs , they will turn to us shooters /anglers and so on.
Colin will tell you a few years back we went to the NEC to an angling show and at the same time the shooting show was also taking place in another hall.
As we walked into the main entrance there was a few anti's about.
One asked colin if he was going to the shooting hall and colin said No to the fishing hall and the anti said good your next.
If they get there own way before long we won't be able to do anything If we can stop them banning hunting with Dogs it will help us no end.
We have to stand upto them on this even if we don't agree to protect our sport of hunting with rifles.

Re: Ban Hunting
Just a reason why I feel this stupidity has come about. Since the early 90’s there has been a steady increase of ‘Townies’ moving into the Countryside, the product of the success of the housing market. Because of this the movement of the Anti’s has strengthened and fed off the ignorance of these townies that have no idea how the Countryside works or even, how it is managed.
The other reason IMO the Government want to bring this up again, is that it’s another smoke screen to hide the fact that they’ve failed to deliver on all sorts of other issues facing the human population of the UK i.e. NHS, Schooling, Poverty in the inner City’s, the lad’s facing danger in Iraq and so on and so on.
Personally we should ban cats and MP’s, cats because they have a worse record on the subject of animal cruelty and also leave stinking messages in your garden and MP’s because they are not doing the job they are paid to do.
The sooner we get a Government that gets to grip with the human problems we have in this country the better, unfortunately, all the parties are the same and fanny about on trivial issues without getting on with the real important problems concerning the UK public. About time they served us, as they should instead of being in the job for what they can get out of it personally.

Re: Ban Hunting
To the Anti (as we affectionately call them) protesting, and campaigning for a 'cause' is a pastime in its own right. Their interest in the chosen subject quickly fades once they have achieved their perceived victory - Remember Greenham common? What about the Newbury bypass, or the culling of seals.
By using a distorted version of the facts to suit their own end, they then gain support from a section of the general public; those gulible enough to believe their diatribe, or those ignorant of the issue and its ramifications.
I cannot abide those who make it their hobby, and seek pleasure in removing the rights of others to go about their ligitimate business, sport, pastime, or whatever.
Once their campaign against the hunt is won, their enthusiasm over this issue will quickly fade. They will, all of a sudden, become life-long and passionate supporters of the league against cruelty to Fish, or passionate supporters of the 'Gun-free society is a safe society' brigade.
The hunt should stay - its part of our heritage. Is it a cruel death for the Fox? I don't know, and I don't care until more pressing issues are addressed by our government - such as the cruelty of patients dying in the corridors
of our crumbling hospitals.
Once we have addressed all the issues relating to unjust cruelty to Humans,
I might be get around to finding out more about the hunt, and whether it is cruel to Vermin.
