My first FAC was for an airgun [a rapid]. The ticket was a closed one, so I had to contact the Firearms Licensing Dept. for each additional bit of land I wanted to shoot it on.
When my ticket came up for renewal, I put in for some variations and I also suggested to the FEO that an open ticket would be dead handy as I'm looking for extra land.
My ticket came back with the .22lr and .17HMR on an open ticket.
