Default Irish Shooters

Hi im just wondering anyone from Ireland/Northern Ireland could help me. Ive been looking to get some info on the laws here up north here on the age limits for applying for a firearms certificate and owning a rifle of my own. i havnt got any gun dealers or shooting clubs near me so ive been finding it quite difficult to get any info on the matter. it says on the PSNI website:

Under Art. 7(3) of the Firearms (NI) Order 2004 the Chief Constable may grant a firearms certificate to a young person for an airgun or shotgun for sporting purposes provided he is under the direct supervision of a person who has attained the age of 21 years and has held a firearm for that type of firearm for at least three years.

does this mean that if i wanted to get rifle to use for hunting or pest control purposes after i sharpened up my skills i would need to be supervised at all times, even on private land?

hopefully someone will be able to clear this up for me as i am very keen on getting into this sport but due to my age (16) i may have to wait a while.

Thanks in advance SureShot
