I agree with Les on that one!

You have to “sell” yourself. Not much different to a door-to-door salesman.
I have lots of luck at the local pub. If you are in a rural area you'll find quite a lot of people with a bit of land.
Have a good talk (don’t start about pest-control immediately) and slowly turn the conversation.

You'll find yourself some nice land in no time. Just make damn sure you’ve got your paperwork in order! After that it’s a bunch of fun all the way!
